Summer Reading

HI, Folks!

I had a great visit above the Mason-Dixon line with family and friends.

We stopped by the Harry Potter Movie Exhibition at Discovery Place in Times Square, and I had the pleasure of taking my niece to the American Doll Store (We had tea! We ate tiny cookies! The dolls had a place at the table! It was actually fun.)

Then I had the honor of meeting with Tracy van Straaten, VP of Trade Publishing Publicity at Scholastic. We talked niche markets, publishing cycles, and author-friendly promotions. I left with great notes and a copy of the YA novel Cleopatra's Moon and the MG novel The Great Wall of Lucy Wu, which I devoured on planes, trains and automobiles. Check them out. They are both stellar.

Then I had a great talk with Laura Blum Guest who distributes books in France to English-language bookstores.

Did a little swimming, a bit of boating, and back home. Whew!

What did you do this summer? Which books did you read and love? Let me know!

Amy
